Nutritious Food Distribution
• Free nutritious food provided twice monthly
• Serving adults 65 years and above
• Food baskets include staple grains, legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables,
cooking oil, powdered milk. and essential food items
• Special dietary considerations for chronic conditions
Medically Tailored Nutrition Support
• Nutrition adapted for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and HIV/AIDS
• Reduced sugar, sodium, and refined carbohydrates
• Emphasis on fiber-rich, locally sourced foods
Nutrition Education a Skills Development
• Quarterly group education sessions in Luganda
• Topics include elderly nutrition, food safety, healthy cooking, budgeting, and food purchasing skills
• Promotion of home gardening and self-sufficiency
Social & Psychosocial Engagement
• Reducing loneliness and isolation
• Encouraging community participation and emotional well-being
• Reinforcing the belief that Food is Medicine
Target Population
• Approximately 300 elderly individuals annually
• Priority given to:
o Elders living alone
o Homebound seniors
o Individuals with chronic illness or disabilities
o Seniors with cognitive disorders or HIV/AIDS
Expected Outcomes
• Improved food security and nutrition
• Better management of chronic conditions
• Reduced isolation and improved mental well-boing
• Increased knowledge of healthy aging practices
